Blog Creation Task:
Provide a brief summary of the services offered by Blogger. Blogger.com offers a place to create a blog. A blog is a space on the web where you can can write about your thoughts/feelings, opinions/ideas and even your dreams, you can write about any thing that you are doing in your life or inform others of things you have learnt about during the day, a story you thought was interesting or funny. You can share this with friends that you allow to see you blog or allow every one to view it. You can set up an account for no cost and it can be set up reasonably easily(I had a lot of helpfrom my friends, Tash, Janice and James).
Once you have your blog set up you can change the settings, you can customise colours, fonts and the templates.
There are drag and drop page elements to help you organise your posting and your blog.
You create a personal profile telling people who you are and what sorts of things you like.
You can post video clips and photos from either your personal computer files or link them from other web sites such as Youtube or FlikrAnother blog host site is Blogster.

Tutorial Two: Digital Camera use and applications
Tutorial Two: “A new technology is rarely superior to an old one in every feature”. Briefly discuss this statement in relation to digital camera technology.
What would you consider to be some of the pluses and minuses digital camera technology holds in relation to more traditional film based cameras?
Although new technology can make tasks quicker and more efficient, it does not replace the satisfaction felt with taking a roll of film into the chemist, going back a few days later and being able to look at your photos for the first time.
You are able to see the photos just how you took them...this way all photos are developed and seen, where as with a digital camera, photos are often deleted for 'not being good enough' or are never printed off for future viewing.
In addition, digital cameras are fantastic in the way we can quickly see what we have photographed and nearly as quickly we are able to print the photos out if we choose for use - ideal when making visual planners or communication aids for people.
List some of the ways that digital images can be stored transferred and manipulated using other communications technology.
They can be stored on cds, on the computer, as a screen saver, they can also be emailed to other people, added to blogs.
Digital photos can be edited, by cropping, removing red eye, enhancing colour, all via the computer.
Given the prevalence of image capturing devices, and thinking about the issues discussed in tutorial one, consider what sort of ethical issues may arise with their use.
Once photos are published on the web, they are able to be accessed and used by anyone for anything.

Tutorial Eight: assistive Technology with Dave (the OT) Seddon
According to Dave, (during his lecture) Assistive technology helps clients go from being passive to active participant in their environments.
Assistive Technology can be used in both educational settings and also assist the client with their functional skills in any area of their life.
I looked at communication device supplied by Spectronics Advanced Multimedia Devices, named the Tech/talk.
It was a panel about the size of a key-board that had eight four cm square pads that had descriptive pictures on them. The client will press the pad that they identify with what they wish to communicate, i.e a smiley face will produce a voice message that says, "I am happy"
Th e device was capable if delivering 96 messages over a series of different bands.
The machine is capable of recording ether the clients voice or a caregiver they knew instead of the preprogrammed voice, blank pad covers were also supplied to further customize the machine to fit the personality of the client. (one client had customized his program to heckle at rugby matches.
The device has lightweight and portable with rugged construction. It was powered with batteries and had a low battery indicator.
Functional capacity will be increased for the client because the non-verbal client can communicate with their family and peers.
Because the messages can be personalized the client will want to use the product because they feel like they have mastery of the situation.
Because it is easy to use and straight forward in function only a small amount of training will be necessary for client and caregiver, teacher, peers and family.

Tutiorial 4 and 5 video production sessions: week 4
Task 1: Follow instructions and work in a small group to plan and produce and edit a 30 sec short.

Task 4: It is a video storage site, it is free and you may view other peoples videos. Although you should not download other peoples videos some people do.
Task 5: While planning of this video we attended to instructions and gathered up the video camera and learn t how to use it. Our group brainstormed ideas about what format our video would take. We used a story board which is like creating a large comic of our ideas and link our ideas together.
Each scene was planned carefully.
Everybody knew what their role was, we referred back to the storyboard. it was a group effort The video had no sound.
We had to set up our equipment.
Our groups went out.
Films were edited in camera
We considered ethical and privacy issues
We posted our videos on our bog.

Technical Description Six
Internet and online communities I have investigated the site www.housingot.co.ukThe overall focus is in information sharing between interested parties abound housing modifications. It is like a world wide internet notice board. It is an interactive site , to contribute one must open their own blog site through yohoo.com then you are free to assess shared information. Not only OT's contribute to this community, it is open to anyone with an interest in housing modifications, or are seeking an answer to their questions.
Transforming Community Equipment and Wheelchair Services
The long awaited "Community Equipment: A Vision for the Future" has been made available by the Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP).
The new national model (although not mandatory - make of that what you will), proposes that for the areas that take it up, community equipment stores will close, and instead a system whereby therapists issues prescriptions for the person to take to a local retail outlet (I presume in much the same way as a GP issues a prescription).
There's to be a new role of Independent Needs Assessor (most likely to be occupational therapists and physiotherapists).
The current system supports 1.5 - 2 million disabled people. With 11 million disabled people living in the UK, the existing state focused system falls far short. In addition to the people who also get help from social services, the new model also proposes to support people who don't meet eligibility criteria for assistance through the local council, as well as those who choose not to involve the state in their lives.
There are a number of documents laying all of this out in much more detail, all to be found at the CSIP Transforming Community Equipment and Wheelchair Services site. There's further informatrion about the new Retail Market Model and an easy read Executive Summary. You'll also find guidance about the future of more compex equipment like hoists, adjustable beds and lifts (I imagine they're making an assumption that stairlifts will be redesignated as equipment following the recent DFG consultation).

there is a concern regarding lack of identity and accountability and validity.
Blogging opens the information highway but leaves the notion of traditional community behind, while developing a new type of community that is less personal.
I thing blogging is like txt, it is impersonal and lacks human nuance. Never the less it is an amazing way to access unlimited information without the traditional constraints of academia

Once skills are mastered technology will make life easier in academic practice. However not everyone has acsses to computors, broadband and we live with the knowledge that the system may crash.
